When Van Leeuwen Green started in 1995, there was just the two of us – Hendrik Van Leeuwen and Jake Green. We both had complementary skills and interests so essential for a successful landscape, with respective backgrounds in horticulture and construction. Both of us are proud that as the company has grown we have been able to employ so many dedicated landscapers and horticulturists. We are especially proud that we have been able to take on board apprentices, giving young people opportunities to get qualifications in such an important and worthwhile industry.
Hendrik studied at Burnley College and completed the Advanced Diploma in Horticulture. He worked for several years at the legendary Idaho Nursery in East Malvern before starting Van Leeuwen Green with Jake Green. Hendrik’s passion is to make gardens beautiful, long lasting and sustainable. Hendrik’s own garden is part of the Australian Open Garden scheme. He loves sharing his knowledge of design, plants and landscapes with clients.
Jake co-founded Van Leeuwen Green with Hendrik and shares his passion for plants and gardens. Jake’s skills lie in landscape construction and irrigation systems. Jake ensures that VanLeeuwenGreen clients get quality workmanship in landscape projects, with hard features built according to design specifications, using the right materials. He takes pride in installing irrigation systems that water plants with maximum efficiency and no waste.
